BRNO OBSERVATORY AND PLANETARIUM

The Brno Observatory and Planetarium is one of the Czech Republic’s leading centers for science education and outreach, welcoming more than 200,000 visitors each year. Its diverse program spans from small-scale telescope observations and daily planetarium shows to large-scale public events that engage thousands in the wonders of science and astronomy.

Recognized as a leader in fulldome production within the Czech Republic, its small production department offers an extensive catalogue of immersive shows — live-action and animated films for both children and adults alike, including several stereoscopic 3D titles. Most of the shows are licensed and can be obtained from a multitude of large international distributors, but you can also find a few pieces that are available completely for free.

The institution furthermore maintains a strong international presence. It organizes the Fulldome Festival Brno, one of the world’s largest events of its kind, attracting professionals and enthusiasts from around the globe to celebrate innovation in immersive science visualization. Other major events include the Festival of Planets, featuring spectacular illuminated models in the surrounding park, and the Festival of Science and Technology, both attracting thousands of visitors from near and far.
